Pulling it All Together
Our client located a recently renovated condo in the historic district around Salem Common, and she needed help pulling her home together. Through an inheritance, she had recently taken possession of an eclectic mix of antique family heirloom furniture and oil paintings done by her great, great aunt, a well-known artist from southern New Hampshire, a student of the famous Hudson River school. In addition, there were several large boxes full of old duck decoys that had belonged to her father, bringing back memories of her youth spent in the fields with him.

Adding a Fresh Twist
WKD helped her with the seemingly overwhelming task of sorting through the furniture, getting it repaired, refinished and appropriately placed in her home, while complementing it with selective purchasing of new furniture, a few antiques to fill in, new area carpets, accessories and drapery. The new furniture was chosen to complement and enhance the antiques, while the fabrics selected gave a new, fresh twist to a traditional look. We suggested the duck decoys be displayed in her stairwell on custom designed brackets, and added to this mix custom framing of hunting photos with her father – recalling their times together.

The oil paintings and their frames all needed restoration in one degree or another. Tapping into our resource network, WKD oversaw and coordinated the restoration of the frames and paintings.

Upon the completion of the project, our client reports that when friends come by to visit, their comments are universally how beautiful, and yet approachable and comfortable her home is.
