Project Overview:
This project involved an addition to the kitchen and family room. We provided design input on the kitchen layout and assisted the homeowners in the selection and design of cabinets and lighting. Several smaller closets and pantries were removed to create better spatial and functional flow, including a mud room and laundry area near the back door.
The original kitchen featured outdated, bleached wood cabinetry. We worked closely with the homeowners to plan and choose new cabinets with a colonial look — raised panels, fluted pilasters and wooden knobs. The careful selection of these cabinets contributed vastly to adding the detail and flair they desired.
These homeowners were particularly concerned about maintaining the integrity of their 1780s home and making sure the addition didn’t feel too contemporary. Hence, the cabinets, new ceiling, old wood floorboards and other elements augment the colonial style prevalent throughout the home. We’re even custom designing a floor cloth that will protect the floor and fit right in with that New England look.
